National Trails Day has traditionally
observed in western Nebraska with a "Hike The Ridge" event in the Chadron area. In recent years, the routes
have varied and have included hikes near The Cliffs (2008), Strong Canyon area (2007), and Outrider Trail - Chadron
State Park area (2006). Hikes prior to that have included Toadstool Park and segments of the Pine Ridge Trail.
Group size has generally been at least a dozen, though they have been significantly larger at times.
